Joint Meeting of the Central Probation Office with the representative of 3M Electronic Monitoring Company

On August 4, 2014, within the Central Probation Office, the Head of the Central Probation Office, Vladimir POPA, and the Deputy Head of the Analytical Activity and External Relations Directorate, Ghenadie CEBAN, met in a working session with the representative of the 3M Electronic Monitoring Company, Mr. Eran HADAD.

 

Please note, that this meeting aimed to familiarize with modern electronic monitoring technologies to further implementation of a pilot project in order to achieve the point 6.5.3.10 Implement a pilot project on electronic monitoring of the probation subjects from the Action Plan for implementing the justice sector reform strategy for 2011-2016. This pilot project will establish rules to prevent violations of the probation conditions and to ensure the security of the citizens. The convicts will wear bracelets and transmitters, which due to GPS and GSM technologies will signal the monitoring center via the internet about for violation of the permitted areas to stay.

 

This measure is to compel the offender to not leave his legal house over a period of time, within a certain time frame, except for the time that the individual spends at work, in case when he is enrolled in employment. This sanction will be applied to those conditionally convicted and those who just got out of prison.

 

At the end of the meeting, Mr. Eran HADAD presented the device which use several European countries and how this system works.
