On October 2, 2014 Floresti district saw the inauguration of the first center of social rehabilitation of the persons released from criminal punishment in Moldova. The event was attended by the Vice-Minister of Justice, Sabina CERBU, the head of the Central Probation Office, Vladimir POPA, the director of the vocational school in Balti, Lucia CARAIMAN, the representatives of the Department of Penitentiary Institutions, the NORLAM Mission, mass media representatives and the heads of the probation bureaus.
In order to implement effectively the action 6.5.3 (5) "Development of individualized working programs for all the categories of beneficiaries of the probation service" from the Action Plan for implementing the Judicial Reform Strategy, approved by the Parliament Decision no. 6 of 16.02.2012 and the Law on probation no.8 of 14.02.2008, and to create new opportunities for rehabilitation and social reintegration of the persons released from criminal punishment under the supervision of the Probation bureaus are proposed the following:
- carrying of the individual and group programs with people released from criminal punishment, in order to correct their social behavior;
- psychosocial assistance (psychological, legal, etc.), support and counseling of the persons released from detention;
- development of professional skills of the probation subjects who will participate in carrying out of the work within the workshops;
- the involvement of the governmental and nongovernmental organizations to solve the problems of the people in difficulty;
- the concentration of community partnerships in order to provide the types of activities and services;
- the involvement of specialists from the professional sphere needed for training the involved subjects in order to obtain a vocational qualification and increasing the social responsibility of the offenders;
- the organization of specialized spaces for attending a program or a course of vocational qualification;
- carrying out of control over the social rehabilitation activities performed by the probation subjects.
The social rehabilitation center from Floresti has a counseling hall, training hall, meeting hall, 3 workshops for carrying out of certain works, namely assembling of computers, carpentry and pottery, as well as an exhibition hall for selling the works done during these workshops.
