The Central Probation Office and the probation offices in common with the Professional Association of Probation Counsellors and the representatives of the Praetor Houses of the Chisinau municipality, organized during the period 17th to 23th March 2015, a series of sanitation actions in the parks, city fields involving persons sentenced to community service.
In order to improve the monitoring process and raising public awareness about the sentence to community service, during this period are involved up to 30 people at the evidence of the probation offices from Chisinau and which are sentenced to community service.
The Professional Association of Probation Counsellors and the representatives of the Praetor Houses of the Chisinau municipality will ensure the people with working inventory, gloves as well as training in the field of health and safety at work. The convicts participate in auxiliary works on arrangement and cleaning the cemeteries and churches, streets and green areas. At the same time, the probation counsellors are those who supervise the entire period of enforcement of the community service.
The sanitation actions will take place over 5 days:
- March 17th – The Probation Office Buiucani - the sanitation actions are carried out in the green areas on the N. Costin and L. Deleanu Street. The supervision is carried out by the counsellors from the Probation Offices Buiucani and Riscani.
- March 18th - The Probation Office Botanica - the sanitation actions are carried out at the “Cimitirul de onoare” (Cemetery of the Romanian soldiers) on the Decebal Street. The supervision is carried out by the counsellors from the Probation Offices Botanica and Centre.
- March 19th - The Probation Office Center - the sanitation actions are carried out at Asylum for elderly people located on the 16 V. Rediului Street. The supervision will be carried out by the counsellors from the Probation Offices Centre and Botanica.
- March 20th - The Probation Office Ciocana – the sanitation actions will take place in the region of 2 Isnovat Street.
- March 23th - The Probation Office Riscani - the sanitation actions will be carried out within the perimeter of Florilor, Calea Orheiului and Studentilor Streets. The supervision will be carried out by the counsellors from the Probation Offices Buiucani and Riscani.
The work performed by the convicts will have a positive impact on the entire society. The community sentence provides a visible demonstration of repairs to the community. It is important for the public to recognize the work done by the convicted person.
We recall that the savings obtained in the local budget for 2014 as a result of execution of community service by the convicted persons, were around 2 984 324,66 MDL with a total hours of 305,458 hours performed by the convicts.
The community service is a criminal sentence established, established by the court for the person who committed an offense and consists in training of the convict to socially useful free work outside the basic work or hours of study, without causing physical suffering or harm the dignity.
