Between 27th April and 7th May 2015, within the Central Probation Office will be delivered the probation counsellor training. 80 probation counsellors will be trained including counsellors and managers over two weeks of courses.
The project focuses on providing support for the Probation Service, Prison and Enforcement System and contributes directly to the development and implementation of the Justice Sector Reform Strategy 2011-2016.
The experts delivering the training are: Victor ZAHARIA - director of the Institute for Penal Reform and Aleksandrs DEMENTJEVS – former head of the Latvian probation service. The training has the aim to improve the probation counsellors skills in the selection and management of offenders who have as punishment/sanction the community service (unpaid community work).
To be mentioned that the implementation period of the project will be 30 months (27th October 2014 - May 2017).
