Working meeting on the supervision and monitoring the performance of the community service

Counselors from the Probation Office TeleneÅŸti met ,on March 17 ,this year, with the representatives of Local Public Administration from Telenesti region in a working session entitled "Unpaid community work. Economic advantages. Encountered problems and solutions to solve them". The meeting was attended by 14 mayors from Telenesti region and two representatives of the District Council of Telenesti.

The meeting was on the Regulation on the mode of execution of criminal punishment in the form of community sentence, institutions involved and their duties, the supervision the enforcement of community sentence and its phases, problems encountered and the solutions during the monitoring process for penalty.

Ghennady Bulat – Head of PB Telenesti noted: "unpaid community service is a punishment imposed for committing evil acts, that qualify as crimes or contraventions. Considering the issues and personality of the person who committed it, the judgment stated that the person is not dangerous for society and need not to be sentenced to prison, but must work in his free time, on the place of residence without payment. With this sentence, the offender is given an opportunity to compensate the society for the committed crime, instead of going to jail. Therefore, the unpaid community service may be an opportunity to correct the behavior of the probation subject ".
