The Draft of the Strategy for Development of Probation System in Moldova for the period 2016-2020 was presented today, June 3, 2016, in a public consultation meeting with the representatives of the public authorities, civil society and development partners.
Consultative meeting was held at the Ministry of Justice and was chaired by Anatolie Munteanu - Deputy Minister of Justice, Tatiana Iurco - chief cabinet minister, Vladimir Popa - acting director of the National Inspectorate of Probation.
At the meeting, Vitalie Renita - the head of the Legal Department of INP, presented the concept paper of the Strategy for Development of Probation System in Moldova for the period 2016-2020 highlighting the vision, values, objectives and targets and strategic directions and specific objectives of each division and the main results expected following the implementation of the Strategy.
The purpose of the elaborated strategy for the next four years is to develop and improve the efficiency of the probation system, to reassert its role within the justice system.
The overall objective - development of probation activities by 2020 by improving and ensuring the continuity of the process of probation, beginning with the pre-trial stage to the post-penitentiary stage that will ensure the rule of law, human rights and contribute to the trust of the society in institution of probation and judicial process.
It notes that the document is achieved through the direct support of the project "Support to systems of enforcement, probation and rehabilitation in Moldova" (EUTAP4).
Implementation of the Strategy of development of the probation system will produce a positive social, economic and psychologically effect, both on persons subject to probation, and society as a whole.
